A Delightful Riverside Park in Paris

Are you interested in taking a leisurely stroll in a UNESCO World Heritage Site that runs through the heart of Paris? All you have to do is head down to the Seine Riverbanks and marvel at the beautiful scenery that the city has to offer as part of the “Parc Rives de Seine” which officially opened in April 2017. The best part? No cars are allowed.

From Apartments du Louvre, it’s an easy walk to rue Lobau (near City Hall or Hotel de Ville) which will lead you to the Seine River and the children’s park. There you will find a playground with a kids’ soccer field, climbing equipment, hammocks and, of course, an incredible view. This is the right river bank, the Rive Droite, which stretches from the Bastille to the Eiffel Tower – a unique promenade where you can enjoy several activities with your family and friends. It’s also part of a city-wide initiative called “Paris Respire,” or Paris Breathes, an attempt to limit the air pollution in this city where an estimated 600,000 cars circulate daily.

Here’s a short and non-inclusive sampling of what you can do along the river: walk, run, bicycle, eat, drink, fish, charge your mobile phone, take photos, play “petanque” or let your children literally “climb the walls” on the facilities built just for that purpose. You can also simply bring a book and take a break from the tiring obligations of being a tourist in Paris.

“Parc Rives de Seine” is free and open to the public from 8 am to 10 pm daily. It has bathroom facilities and is accessible to everyone. It is a safe area where you can see police on foot, on bicycles or even on horseback. Four million visitors have already made their way down to the River Seine – why not join them?
